I INVESTIGATE THE DIS-EASE IN THE SCHOOL OR WORK COMMUNITY. I IDENTIFY THE DIAGNOSIS THROUGH AN AUDIT, CONSULTATION OR MEETING.
I PRESCRIBE A REMEDY FOR THE ISSUES, OFFERING A PROGRAM OF WORK TO PUT THE CONFLICTS AND BULLYING INTO REMISSION.
I DO NOT APPORTION BLAME. MY TREATMENT IS ABOUT REPAIRING THE HARM AND FACILITATING PEOPLE TO COME TOGETHER AND DIALOGUE.
AS A CERTIFIED LIFE COACH I WILL COACH YOU TO CREATE BALANCE IN YOUR LIFE. AND TAKE DOWN THE OBSTACLES THAT CAN HINDER
‘Where did we get the crazy idea that to make people do better, we first have to make them feel worse’ Nelsen, Lott, Glenn (Positive discipline in the classroom)
As humans, we are like lumps of fuel, that rub up against each other causing friction, and creating sparks. Then the smouldering begins. Resentments fester, and sometimes we find people to take our side, fanning the flames of the fire, and at times the fire escalates. People can stoke the fire with their prejudices, anger, and discontent. Before we know it we have created a bush fire. Everyone involved in the conflict is harmed. Nobody escapes the fire. In the fire is the gem, we need to have the courage to step into the fire and do something about it. Calm the flames. Of course there are gems in every stage of the fire. At every stage there is an opportunity to problem solve or change. But even if the blaze is raging we can still pick ourselves out of the ashes and move on.
Hi my name is Dr Valerie Mason-John but I prefer to be called Queenie while working in the work place or at school. I want to first say that conflict is inevitable. Do not be ashamed of it happening in your School or Work Environment. Conflict is an opportunity to do something different, an opportunity to be creative.
All to often we look on at the fire, feel fear, or collude, or tell our selves it will die down if we ignore it. And often it doesn’t, sleeping dogs don’t just lie, they chew at the slipper, growl with smoke coming out of their ears. The fire smoulders until we do something about it. This is where I can come in with the gentle water to help calm the flames. Conflict can be tiny, get help before it flares into something bigger.
I like to come in before the fire has happened. Often I am asked to come in when the fire is raging, or when it has raged and is still burning. I don’t have a magic wand, just years of experience working with conflict in my own life and in other people’s lives.
Whether we are the bully or the person being bullied, we need to self reflect. If we find ourselves continually in conflict situations we have to acknowledge that we are the common denominator and perhaps we need to do something.
As a bully doctor – I do not apportion blame. I listen to all sides of the story and all points of view without judgement. Everybody’s needs are validated. My approach is about repairing the harm and facilitating people to come together and dialogue. I look at the dis-ease in the work or school community, then establish a diagnosis through an audit, or consultation or meeting, the cure is inevitable if you want to remedy the issues, and then I offer the treatment, a program of work.
FOUR CONFLICT TRUTHS
(Dis-ease) There is conflict in life
(Diagnosis) There are actions that lead to more conflict in life
(Cure) There can be an end of conflicts in life
(Treatment) There are actions that lead away from conflict in life
Bullying is a type of conflict.
I can specifically design a program to combat bullying in the work place or a school to suit your needs. Or I can utilize a ready made program I have designed.
If I am contacted about issues of conflict, bullying or harassment. I like to meet with you first to talk about the issues that have been arising. I will then suggest a program of work which may range from one day to several days, depending on what the issues are. I offer restorative justice training in the classroom, for teachers, administrators, employers and anyone who is managing groups of people, to help keep conflict in remission.
My aim is to provide a remedy that can be maintained after I have left, leaving your community both empowered and enabled to deal with issues that may relapse in the future.
